- Licenses are issued on weekdays only, and both of you must appear in person.

***Marriage License Requirements ***
Non-Georgia residents must obtain their marriage license in the county where the ceremony takes place. For Simply Weddings, that is Clayton County Probate Court.
- Apply online first. Complete the Georgia online marriage application before visiting the court, and save your confirmation number.
- Visit the court together. Both of you must appear in person at Clayton County Probate Court to finish the process. Applications are accepted Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and licenses cannot be issued on weekends. Finishing the application usually takes 20 to 30 minutes, so arrive well before 3:00 PM.
- Plan around weekend ceremonies. If your ceremony is on a Saturday or Sunday, arrive in Atlanta in time to visit the court on a weekday before your wedding.
- Bring valid government-issued photo ID for both of you.
- Bring payment for the $66 license fee. The court accepts cash, debit, or credit only. No checks. Debit and credit card payments include a surcharge.
- Bring your license to your ceremony. It must be in hand before we can begin.
